We have been brewing award-winning beer in Northumberland for over 20 years. We are now looking for two enthusiastic people to join our friendly independent brewery and help us with the next stage of our growth.

Brewer / Packaging Operator

Full time Permanent Allendale, Northumberland On-site role

We are looking for a practical, enthusiastic and reliable person to join our production team. This is a varied, hands-on role involving every stage of brewery production, from brewing and fermentation to packaging and preparing finished beer for our customers.

The role

Working alongside our experienced brewery team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with wort production and brewing.
  • Monitoring fermentation and carrying out cellar operations.
  • Packaging beer into cask, keg and can.
  • Operating, cleaning and maintaining packaging equipment.
  • Completing cleaning and sanitation procedures, including CIP.
  • Carrying out basic quality-control checks and maintaining records.
  • Preparing and organising customer orders.
  • Loading and unloading deliveries.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping.
  • Assisting with general brewery maintenance and stock control.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys practical and physical work.
  • Is reliable, punctual and well organised.
  • Has strong attention to detail.
  • Takes pride in producing consistently high-quality products.
  • Works well both independently and as part of a small team.
  • Has a positive attitude and is willing to learn.
  • Is comfortable following production, hygiene and safety procedures.

Previous brewery experience is welcome but is not essential, as training will be provided. Experience in food and drink production, packaging, manufacturing, engineering or a similar practical environment would be an advantage.

Business Development Manager

Full time or part time £13.10 per hour Allendale, Northumberland Customer-focused role On-site role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Business Development Manager to lead our sales activity, strengthen relationships with our existing customers and introduce Allendale Brewery beers to new customers across the region.

About the opportunity

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a varied and important role within a well-established independent brewery. You will work closely with the brewery team and help shape how we grow our customer base, promote our products and develop our sales activity.

The role is available on either a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the successful candidate.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing relationships with existing customers.
  • Identifying and approaching potential new customers, including pubs, bars, restaurants, bottle shops and retailers.
  • Planning and carrying out regular customer visits.
  • Introducing customers to new beers and seasonal products.
  • Following up enquiries and maintaining accurate customer records.
  • Preparing quotations and communicating prices and availability.
  • Working closely with the production and delivery teams to provide excellent customer service.
  • Reactivating previous or lapsed customer accounts.
  • Identifying new opportunities, markets and routes to sale.
  • Representing Allendale Brewery at trade events, festivals and promotional activities when required.
  • Contributing ideas for product launches, promotions and marketing campaigns.
  • Reporting on customer activity, sales opportunities and market feedback.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is confident, friendly and comfortable meeting new people.
  • Is an excellent communicator and relationship builder.
  • Is self-motivated and able to manage their own workload.
  • Is organised, dependable and good at following up opportunities.
  • Has a positive, proactive and commercially aware approach.
  • Enjoys working as part of a small, collaborative team.
  • Has a full UK driving licence.

Previous experience in sales, account management, hospitality, brewing or the drinks trade would be beneficial. However, we are also interested in hearing from people with strong customer-service and relationship-building skills who are enthusiastic about developing their career in sales.
